First Day of December, where do we end the year?

Futures sharply lower this morning.  Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  The markets look a little fearful this morning.  We’ll probably see some downside action today as we’ve rallied pretty much all last week.  It was on a little lower volume so that also makes us a little more nervous on the long side.

What we’re watching today:

GS - If it breaks 75 we think it has more room to the downside, but if it holds those levels it may be stablizing a bit.

SPY - Like we said in spy could see more downside on that break below 87.50.

TRADE SMART!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING WEEKEND!

Futures lower this morning, on what looks to be a thinly traded session anyway.  We don’t expect too much action today especially in a shortened session.  One thing we did notice this morning is to be monitored on SPY.  87.70’s is a level to keep an eye on.  If it breaks below that level short looks real good going to test in the 83’s and then it still has a lot of room even further down..  If the markets continue to push higher next week, watch the 96 level.  Unless something major happens(like some sort of major bailout plan that the street sees as sustainable, in the next few weeks I don’t see how it can continue to rally too much higher.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving day yesterday with family and friends!  The Cowboys looked sharp even though Seattle isn’t exactly the NFL’s elite :)!

Have a great rest of the weekend!

“Last” Trading day of the month

Futures lower this morning.  This might be considered the last trading day of the month.  The markets will be opened on Friday but most people will be on vacation and out of town.  So if you want to trade against other traders, Friday is gonna be your day.  Despite the economic struggles our economy is facing, this week should still be a week to reflect on what you’re thankful for.  Tomorrow is the holiday for it and righfully so, but it should be a big reminder that everyday we have people, things, experiences, etc. to be thankfu!

What we’re watching today:

Indexes- SPY, QQQQ, etc., not sure we’ll see a ton of action today, but the not so good data this morning on top of the past 3 days of rallying could mean some profit taking before the holidays.

BCE - just came across our boards.  This one might also see a little more downside.  Huge drop though this morning so far so if you try to catch it on the downside be sure to be cautious that it could just as fast rally upward.

Have a great THANKSGIVING holiday!  TRADE SMART!

Is this rally for real?

Futures up this morning.  What we’re wondering is how real is this rally?  It’s a short week so we still may see it continue to the upside, but some major relief is gonna have to happen in order for this to continue up.  I’m guessing we’ll start to hear auto news again if the markets see more upside over the week.  Thanksgiving is this week so today and tomorrow will probably be the last real trading days of the week.

Here’s what we’re watching today:

BHP - they backed out of their bid on RTP so that gives them a little more cash back.

GS - if financials continue to rally this is probably one of the leaders.

LM- was downgraded and things don’t seem to be too hot for this company lately so this one might see some downside in the near term.

TRADE  SMART!

Futures up this morning and it’s Thanksgiving week!  Ok, kind of a late start so here’s what we’re watching:

XOM - may see a push up today potentially to the 78 range if not higher.

C- getting some bailout news so keep an eye on it not sure if it just consolidates today though.

Trade smart!

Options Expiration Friday

Futures up this morning getting back some of the losses taken the past couple days.  It’s options expy today so expect to see some volatility.  Just be sure to get in(make your money) and get out.  Don’t get greedy!  Not sure if we’re going to see a bail out or not for the auto industry, but the current President is working on keeping even the unemployed happy for the holidays so hopefully everyone will spread good cheer.  It’s something that’s been a recurring theme lately.  Not sure that it’s even because this is almost the time of year for it, but I’m thinking it may be the time in our generation to really take a hard look at giving instead of storing up for selfish gain.  Something to think about.

What we’re watching:

BIDU, RIMM, POT all of which make big moves and if we can find a one directional move today we might see a good steady move, but with the way the markets have been, just making a profit is a good move.

TRADE SMART the market opens in just a few min!

Is the solar sector legit?

Futures lower this morning on more fear and bad numbers, both here in the US and also in the global markets. Scary things all over the news with the auto industry and also the world economy in general. Something else that I’ve been seeing alot of is questioning the solar sector. The more I read about solar companies the more I’m wondering how many of these companies are legit and if most of them are just Enron-type companies. By that I mean do these companies really do anything or are they just building false promises and with fancy buildings and empty rooms. It also reminds me of the movie Boiler Room, where they get investors to bring in the money and the only ones making money are the people selling. We’ll see how it pans out probably over the next several months.

What we’re watching:

FSLR - for some reason something seems fishy about this company. If it does see more downside action we could be testing that 95 area again pretty soon and a break of that we could really be seeing this one, dare I say close to being cut in half! Around the 123’s we like it short. Keep the stops fairly tight though!

Trade smart!

No Yahoo for YHOO

Futures slightly up this morning, down a lot from earlier before the employment #’s came out. Obviously they came in worse than expected, but we haven’t tanked off yet. Earlier this year YHOO could have been sold for $33 to Microsoft, ugh what a bad move to not take that offer. YHOO may see under $10 soon.

What we’re watching today:

OSIP - Had some good data news, doesn’t always cause a huge run in a stock, but we think the 43 range is possible, just be cautious for a sell off. Every so often result news on drug companies actually hold and keep running. So we’re keeping an eye on this one.
